The BBC West Sports Awards for 2004 were transmitted on BBC1 on Wednesday 8 December 2004.
Featuring profiles of the winners and the West's Olympic stars this 30 minute programme produced by Big Umbrella was presented by Phil de Glanville.
The West's Sports Personality of the Year is Deborah Criddle, the 3 Gold Medal winner from the dressage competition in the Paralympics. The programme also featured an Olympic tribute featuring 3 of the West's many medal winners - Jason Gardener for Gold in the 4x100m relay, Leon Taylor for Silver in the synchronised diving and Georgina Harland for the Bronze Medal in the Modern Pentathlon.
A Special Contribution Award was given to Jack Russell as a tribute to his incredible record as a wicket keeper playing for both Gloucestershire and England and the programme features an extended profile of him looking at his career in cricket as well as his work as a portrait and landscape artist.
The programme also features Unsung Sporting Hero Eileen Witts who won for her 46 years of dedication to Lawn Netball Club in Swindon, Richard Davenport as Young Sportsperson of the Year for his performance and potential in the 400m hurdles and Swindon golfer David Howell for the Best Sporting Moment of the Year for his play at the 17th hole helping to secure the Ryder Cup for Europe.
