Big Umbrella Media helps Charity win Award

Big Umbrella was recently commissioned by RNID to devise and produce a video-based interactive simulation of what deafness can be like.

This has now helped the Charity win an award for their creative and powerful stand at this year’s Labour Party Conference.

Everyday workplace scenes were filmed, including a busy reception, a noisy meeting and an open plan office, that often prove difficult for people with deafness.

The sound was then distorted with the advice of an Audiologist to simulate the frequency changes associated with hearing loss.

This demonstration was used together with other Big Umbrella videos on RNID’s stand at the three main political party conferences this Autumn.

In the pictures Cherie Booth and Charles Kennedy can be seen using the simulation.

After winning the award for “Best Stand-Delegates' Choice” at this year's Labour Party Conference, RNID’s Parliamentary Officer Lindsay Owen commented:

“Without Big Umbrella Media’s high-quality, fast work and excellent understanding of our objectives, we could not have won!”

Big Umbrella is continuing to work with RNID on a number of other high profile projects.
